A few years ago, my back started bothering me.
Like so many people, I thought it was just part of getting older. I figured I’d have to live with it.
Eventually, I decided to go to physical therapy.
The exercises they gave me were so simple that I honestly questioned whether they could make any difference. I almost dismissed them because they seemed too easy.
But I showed up twice a week with my therapist and did those same simple exercises every day at home.
Without realizing it, I wasn’t just doing exercises—I was building a foundation.
Looking back, those simple movements changed everything. They strengthened the muscles that support my body, improved my balance and mobility, and gave me the confidence to keep progressing. None of it happened overnight, but every small step prepared me for the next one.
Today, my back no longer hurts. I lift weights, practice yoga pain-free, and now I’m working toward something I never imagined… my first unassisted pull-up. Right now, I’m using an assisted machine, but every workout brings me one step closer. 💪
This experience has reminded me of an important lesson: we all want to skip the foundation. We want the big results without first building the habits that make those results possible.
I see this all the time with nutrition. People want to lose weight, lower their cholesterol, control their blood sugar, or feel more energetic, but they’re often looking for the fastest solution instead of building the daily habits that create lasting change.
Real transformation doesn’t happen because of one perfect meal, one great workout, or one week of motivation. It happens because we repeat simple, healthy habits until they become part of who we are.
That’s why I named the first six weeks of my coaching program Foundation. It’s where we slow down, focus on the basics, and build habits that support lasting health.
The second six weeks are called Evolution because, in just 12 weeks, you can evolve into a healthier version of yourself. But lasting transformation always begins with a strong foundation.
I’ve learned that lasting transformation isn’t about doing extraordinary things. It’s about faithfully doing the ordinary things over and over until they become the foundation for the life you want.
What foundation are you building today that your future self will thank you for? ❤️
